I used to think that the medifore, "the winds howeled outside" was inaccurate and clishe....untill Scotland. I've got a whole pack of wolves outside. That and it also sounds like the beach at low tide waves crashing on the sand and residing back into the sea. I woke up in the middle of the night thinking that someone besides mother nature was trying to break in because our window was jiggling and rain was tapping on the pane. I suppose I got a little spooked and couldn't get back to sleep so I took it as a sign to write.

Scotland is famous for the wind. It's always a big part of any literature -- someone coming in from walking on the highlands, soaking wet with the wind at their back and then warming themselves by the fire. It is a land of absolute beauty and uncompromising weather.
